How to Improve Twitter Tactical Performance in 2015?

How to Improve Twitter performance in 2015?

How to Tweet and Improve Performance?

Our Twitter strategy concept will give you practical ways to increase your business performance.

Did you know that in 2015, companies will generate 50% of web sales via their social presence and mobile applications. (Source:Gartner 2011).

Yes that means business to everyone who already has a respectable presence there.

Twitter allows all types of businesses to grow faster, find leads (listening), increase engagement and drive traffic to your site in just a few seconds. Surprised? It’s true, you can also share innovation, ideas, services and lead your way through by using its short 140 characters message. This is a social media platform, that business owners, bloggers, top influencers and potential customers are hanging on right now.

How to start on Twitter

If you’ve just started on twitter or are just setting-up your account, here is a checklist for you. These are important steps to apply. We’re going to start with the basics and follow up with tactical marketing in part two and three.

As with all the social media platforms, you’ll be asked to create your profile page. This is exactly the same if you’re going to sign up for a book club, you need to give them your details and a photo – the same applies toTwitter.

So here you go – Let’s now check what you have done so far.

Stage 1. Choose your username

Start with neutral name. Create your screen @username – also known as your handle, which allow others to identify you. Use a short, memorable business name. It’s okay to use business name mixed with your name. But the simpler the better, because we’re taking it across multiple social media platforms – so you’re looking to get consistency in your names.

Stage 2.Upload image or avatar

Always select a good quality image. The recommended size is 400×400 pixels.

Stage 3. Optimise your bio

Why optimise your profile? Because it is your virtual business card – give your readers a trustworthy, likeable and easy to remember bio. You have 140 characters to attract, interest and sell yourself. So, don’t mess around. Enter a short description about your business, make it unique, use other social media links or space for other work related urls.

Stage 4. Craft your Brand – Create your slogan with two to four words.

Example: “Positive, quality and fast service”!
Ensure that your tagline is the same all across your social media networks (service, about..)

Stage 5. Pin best Tweet

You can benefit enormously from this feature and get maximum exposure. – top of your profile timeline for your best Tweet. Click on the “more” option on the Tweet you want to pin and select “Pin to your profile page.”.

Now that you have checked your profile, we can continue.

How to improve Twitter tactical strategy?

When creating your Twitter strategy, glance back at your (already created) business goals. Your planning must be based on your content marketing and business strategy in order to support your company’s social media presence and audience engagement going forward.

Top 5 Twitter business goals to consider:

1. Grow your database
2. Find leads
3. Engage with prospects/customers
4. Share content to support lead generation
5. Drive traffic and convert.

With those in mind, you’re probably thinking – ok I am getting started.

Lets get some factoids first

Many social media consultants say that the best time of the day to get one retweet – is in between 1pm and 3pm – I have to say that I totally disagree with this. Of course, it goes without saying if you don’t feed the fire, you only get smoke out of it. But what they fail to mention is that it all really depends on how you create your tweet content.

Best Re-tweet time

” Neil Patel says that people are 21% more likely to reply to tweets with questions” and I believe him. Also, if you want people to RT more include these “download a free guide or report” you’re better off starting with short tweets plus link.

And then try other tactics, but we’ll get there.

Social media figures

Below, you’ll notice that social media websites are driving more and more traffic to other social media sites.

Social media drives more traffic
Social media great share of traffic in 2012-13

They have considered a great number of psychographic segments: including gender, location, Twitter themes, activity, hashtags, and more.

How long should the perfect Tweet be ?

After tweeting relevant stuff from anything up to 140 characters – I noticed that I was getting much better results with 75 – 95 characters as they get RT’d more often and I get 10-15% fav and/or RT with 82-100 characters.

Click image below to see how .

Top tweet length

There are three main factors to help you out

Firstly lets start with the lenght of your tweet – a short tweet composed with one link followed by hashtag is a winner (75-85 characters). Secondly a good image makes the talk and third, the tweet starting with How, Free, social value, or hot topics/themes based on news etc..
Hope this will make sense, because people prefer to read shorter sentences, also it displays better in mobile screens, as they are smaller than a laptop or Ipad.

Did you know that..

  • When adding an image on your tweet it gets 35% more engagement than a tweet without image retweets

  • Inserting one hashtag in a controversial tweet can increase 2x for small brands, whereas when inserting two or three hashtags your tweet will have three times more chances to get viewed and re-tweeted.
  • According to MIT Technology – hashtags are more effective when inserted at the end of your tweet – however, I believe that two to three are enough to reach out to your audience. But use it with moderation!

  • I often notice that if you ask “Please RT” you’re likely to get 35-50% Retweets.

To sum up part one:
I don’t think people give enough thought, consideration to how hard it is to write quality tweets with 140 characters. Yes it is. Here’s the tip for you – think writing exciting, attractive or controversial headings – you will attract more readers. You may say there isn’t really a lot of space, but you can make it. It took me over a year to see what is effectively working and how hard it is to get there and create tweet content that people want to see. Experiment see what big guys are doing.

Next time, we’ll get into real tactical details.

So, if you want to learn more about how to get better at Twitter, read how to improve Twitter tactical performance part two.
