Why Follow Google Search Engine Optimization Guidelines?

get-free-seo-analysisWhether you are thinking of doing search engine optimisation yourself or hiring an SEO expert, we strongly recommend you to download google’s guidelines document and become familiar with how search engines work.

Soon after you read it, think about how you are going to start your site optimisation project.

You’ll be facing two options  – first, outsourcing your SEO project or doing the work yourself.  If you decide to give it a go, be aware that you have to be very organised, have the right tools and spend regular time On and Off your site’ pages, its a long term job. I would add that there is nothing wrong if you take control of your own website SEO project.

If you have opted to hire a professional SEO team to tackle the project, after a long web search or you were lucky enough to have been recommended by a friend or a client, yet you still have to follow “Google’s guidelines”4th paragraph, remember. If you site has more than 100 pages, they should start by performing an SEO audit before doing anything else.

The reason you should take your time to find someone who really knows what SEO strategy is about, is because many of them call themselves experts, or gurus, and quite often they don’t always deliver the promised SEO results, such as traffic increase or high rankings on search engines.  But, do not give up, as there is plenty of good SEO people out there and you should be able to find a serious one that will provide you with useful services for your website.

In case you are considering changing host provider or redesign your site, be careful before you move or deleting any file. It does require some pre planning beforehand (redirect pages, 301,302…) for example. I would say that you should know that moving pages without re-direct them properly will impact on your rankings – your SEO people have to make sure that your site is error free, freshly updated with no duplicate url’s  in order to be search engine-friendly.

Nevertheless, saying that if you have found a decent SEO team the first think they should normally provide you with is a detailed audit report containing what needs to be done and most important how they will improve your site content no matter what.

I have copied links below  (from google’s page) for you to read in case you don’t know where those pages are.  From google’s site – Free resources such as Webmaster Tools, the official Webmaster Central blog, and discussion forum can provide you with a great deal of information about how to optimize your site for organic search.

Well, I hope this article has helped you consider the pros and cons of undertaking an SEO project on your own.  Please, bear in mind that this article is for inexperienced people or beginner’s orientated.

Whatever you have decided, I wish you good luck.
